What it looks like

Shortly after you lose funds, or after you post about it online, someone contacts you. They may claim to be a "blockchain recovery specialist", a lawyer, a government agency or even Chainsentra. They say they can return your funds and ask for an upfront fee, often in crypto. Some ask for wallet access or your seed phrase "to complete the transfer". After payment, more fees appear, then they disappear.

Red flags

  • They contacted you first. Chainsentra never contacts people first offering to return funds.
  • They promise your funds will be returned. Nobody honest can promise that. Only law enforcement and courts can seize or return assets.
  • They want an upfront fee, especially in crypto.
  • They ask for your seed phrase, private keys or remote access to your device.
  • They claim a success rate or show testimonials you can't verify.

What to do next

  1. Don't pay, and don't share access to your wallet or device.
  2. Check any claim to be from Chainsentra on our verification page.
  3. Report the contact to your local police; it's useful evidence for your original case too.
  4. If you want a genuine assessment, start one through our website. It's free, and you'll get a written quote before any paid work.

How to check it's really us

Every Chainsentra investigator has a public profile and an ID you can check on Verify an investigator. We publish our prices, never take payment in crypto, and never ask for your seed phrase, private keys or wallet access.
