The pattern

A platform shows a healthy balance. When the person asks to withdraw, a message appears about tax, an anti-money-laundering check or an "unlock" fee that must be paid separately, usually in crypto. After one payment, another fee appears.

Why it works

The demand arrives when someone has the most to lose and wants to believe the balance is real. Paying a smaller fee to release a larger balance can feel reasonable. It rarely releases anything.

What the fee addresses tell us

Fee payments go to addresses controlled by the same operation. Tracing them often links several reports to the same people, which strengthens the evidence for everyone involved.

What to do

Don't pay. Keep every message and the address you were asked to pay, and start a free assessment.
